Performances in the Circus
In 1980, when the new Moscow Circus on the Lenin Hills (now the Great Moscow Circus) decided to release its first water performance, timed to coincide with the Olympic Games in Moscow, and invited the country's strongest synchronized swimming team - SCIF
First performance at the circus.
Participation in the circus program of a sports team leading in the national standings was the first and unique experience in the history of circus water performances, which has no analogues in the world. The team’s performance was a phenomenal success with the public, but after two weeks of participation in the “Stars of the Olympic Arena” program, the athletes had to “return to sports” - prepare for calendar competitions.

It was necessary to create a group in a very short time that could replace the SKIF-Burevestnik team for the entire annual season of demonstrating the program. The task seemed overwhelming, especially considering that in the country at that time there were catastrophically few synchronized swimmers of even the highest level: domestic synchronized swimming was taking its first steps, and there were only a few teams in the Soviet Union. Despite all the difficulties, Vladimir Maksimov was able to recruit a new group and, in an extremely short period of time, prepare it for an annual participation in the program of the country's leading circus!

So, a difficult, sudden situation involuntarily contributed to the creation of a new team focused on staging various water performances. Thus, a difficult, sudden situation involuntarily contributed to the creation of a team that is now the only team of aquatic ssssxsartists and directors in the world with almost 45 years of experience in the field of aquatic entertainment.

“The extravaganza performance “Stars of the Olympic Arena” is about the friendship of the circus and sports. It glorifies the impulse, takeoff, courage, inspiration and other qualities inherent in sports, without which victory cannot be achieved. Athletes participate in the performance, and it includes performances showing high achievements masters of the arena [...] In the second part, called “Circus on the Water”, as already mentioned, the arena is replaced by a swimming pool, with a small island in the center. Everyone has heard fair calls that the circus should more actively draw on sports when creating new acts. The department is opened by a artistic swimming group headed by V. Maksimov. Maybe; The performance of synchronized swimming masters could be made more circus-like, but even now it is quite beautiful and impressive"

After successful participation in the “Stars of the Olympic Arena” program, the collaboration of the team under the leadership of the Maximovs with the circus on the Lenin Hills did not stop. It was first continued in 1985/1986, when the group entered the circus program “Salute, Festival!” - a performance dedicated to the XXI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, and in 1989/1990, when the team took part in the program dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Soviet circus “The floor is given!..”.

Each program with the participation of the team was demonstrated throughout the year, 6 days a week. The numbers “Stalactites” and “Bolero”, staged by Maria and Vladimir Maximov for the 1989 program, were included in the television film “Circus on the Water”.
