Christmas Water Shows
The tradition of staging and showing Christmas (New Year) performances on the water began at the end of 1980s, with performances in the Riga Daugava swimming pool.
Since the 1980s, the participation of the Maria and Vladimir Maksimov pupils in Christmas Trees On The Water, which were arranged by the management of the Latvian Daugava's swimming pool, has become a good tradition. At first, the athletes of the Burevestnik sports club took part in them, and from 1990 to 1994, the collective of the Teatr Na Vode by Maksimov. In divertimental performances, the girls demonstrated several water acts, including "Kokoshniki," "Tziganochka" (Gypsy danse), "Swan Lake," "Adagio with Candles," and others. Many Russian synchronized swimming specialists, who are now known as coaches and judges, took part in these wonderful celebrations.
